The city may appeal a court ruling costing 337,466 dollars after Judge A L Drury upheld American Motors AMC argument that aircraft materials were US government property not subject to local property taxes. AMC and the U S government seek reimbursement if loss stands.
Dr Paul J Lawrence, 50, Madison, is named the first full time medical director of Dane county institutions, to start May 1. He will be county physician with a salary of 10300 and maintenance, splitting time between institutions work and public welfare duties.
The Southeastern Wisconsin Taxpayers conference endorsed a two percent retail sales tax for Wisconsin to fund a state budget, cut income and property taxes, and provide checks on state spending. Mil waukee co chair John Adams Thierry urged the plan as a stable revenue source benefiting taxpayers and tourists, while opponents questioned the broader tax impact and reach.
The House passed a 795 million dollar supplemental appropriation covering construction and launching of earth satellites. In separate reports, Mrs. Bassett was robbed at gunpoint in Milwaukee, while the House also approved ten million dollars more for school milk funds and two million for Brucellosis eradication for the current fiscal year.

Sen. Estes Kefauver captured 24 of Minnesota's 30 Democratic national convention votes in the state’s presidential primary. He netted 12 votes statewide and two in six congressional districts, while Adlai Stevenson won two from one Minneapolis district. Eisenhower led Knowland in Republican returns. Kefauver credited a Minnesota revolt against the Eisenhower farm plan.
The Kenosha county board approved buying three squad cars from Harris Motors Winthrop Harbor for 5 600 with two trade ins. The action came as part of seven major votes in a four hour session including a 900 000 bond for a county home addition and re adjourned bids on parts of the project. Opposition from local dealers and calls to study the matter continued as the board moved to defer some issues to committees.
The state ends its case against the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. as 90 Negroes face trial for the Montgomery bus boycott. Montgomery City Lines manager J H Bagley testified white and Black riders faced arrest for segregation refusals. Rosa Parks’ arrest sparked the boycott. Mayor Gayle defends efforts to settle with the Citizens Council stance.
The state board of health said a new typhoid fever case was reported in Outagamie county over the weekend of March 10, raising Wisconsin’s 1956 total to eight cases.

In Marquette Michigan two brothers Terry Thorne 22 and Philip Jr 10 months perished Tuesday as a cabin at Beaver Grove nine miles southeast of Marquette burned. State police said the blaze broke out while the mother shopped for groceries in the town.

President Eisenhower may vacation in Wisconsin this summer due to doctors advising against high altitude Denver after last September’s heart attack. Denver sources quote physicians and a close friend as mentioning Wisconsin as a possible site, while Lowry Air Force Base staff expect his return. Maj. Gen. Sprague says plans are not yet confirmed but he is confident the President will come if possible. Elivera Doud’s Wisconsin home could be ready at a moment’s notice.
Madison Wisconsin January and February milk production rose 10 percent from a year earlier, according to Walter Ebling, chief statistician for the federal crop reporting service.
A freight train derailed at 3:45 a.m. on the Milwaukee Road main line to Chicago. Crews worked more than 12 hours to reopen the double tracks. Twenty six cars were derailed in the incident.
