In Congo’s Kivu Province a Malayan U.N. patrol reaches 300 white missionaries and nuns, reporting terror from Congolese soldiers. A Belgian nun pleads for outside help as rescue forces enter the jungle frontier amid a broader Congo crisis.
The Labor Department reported February job losses of 375,000 on non farm payrolls, with unemployment rising to 5.705 million. Indications of possible upturn include steady factory hours and smaller declines in primary metal jobs, though 1.624 million have been unemployed 15 weeks or more and 2.4 million employed are married breadwinners.
In Rochester New York a 14 year old boy admitted killing his mother Mrs Lydia Ruscitti 41 by shooting three times with a .22 rifle as she scrubbed the kitchen floor. He called police minutes later and was charged with juvenile delinquency.

FBI and Chicago police probe the March 5 disappearance of 300 autos from Sterling-Harris Ford. 113 vehicles were found in a Lake County field. one was traced to Milwaukee. Authorities seek Leroy Sterling and George Harris for questioning. Value about 300000 dollars.

Defense Minister V K Krishna Menon said Chinese Communist troops crossed into Indian territory on Friday and opened fire on an Indian patrol. Indian reinforcements moved in and captured a Chinese Communist prisoner.
United States forces in South Korea went to full scale alert as part of a worldwide readiness exercise. A United Nations spokesman said no increased tension along the truce line. North Korea shelled a South Korean naval vessel after the alert, causing no casualties or damage.
