Mildred Gillars known as Axis Sally was convicted of treason for wartime Axis broadcasts. A mixed jury returned the verdict yesterday and her punishment likely will be decided in a week or more.
Three armed men terrorized Sinai and nearby Stony Point schools in Wyandotte County, ransacking desks and forcing doors as residents reported home intrusions. Sheriff’s deputies and state patrol men searched the heavily wooded area while residents armed themselves. Miss Gillars was found guilty in a separate case and faces possible death or prison terms.
A head-on crash near Somerset Wisconsin killed Lawrence Sicard 25 of Somerset and Tony Weiss 30 a farmer near Stillwater Minnesota. Patricia Sandquist 19 and Mark Germain of Stillwater were injured in the Weiss car and treated at Lakeview hospital.
