Ex-Red Testifies on Secret Lab Work and Top Secret Project
Former Communist Peter A. Gragis testified before Senator McCarthy's subcommittee that he was a party member from 1936 to 1950 and worked 1945 to 1950 at Federal Telecommunications Laboratories in Nutley New Jersey with access to classified documents though not on secret projects. He said he did work on a top secret project titled The Mark V Project while loaned to Hazeltine Electronics and identified a fellow employee, Frank McGee, as a Communist who invoked the fifth amendment. The hearing also covered other loyalty questions, including Marine Belsky who refused to answer and faced possible contempt citation.
