Plan Reburial Of War Veteran Kuyawa
The body of Stephen Kuyawa Water Tender Second Class son of John and Alexandra Kuyawa Route 3 Box 433 Kenosha will be returned Monday for final burial. He died in action aboard the USS Pensacola November 30 1942 near Tassafaronga Guadalcanal. Born in Waukegan June 26 1919 he moved to Gurnee Ill and enlisted March 9 1938. He served at Great Lakes USS Pennsylvania before transferring to USS Pensacola. He reenlisted after December 14 1941 and fought at Suva Fiji Bougainville Midway Guadalcanal. He was active in multiple engagements and belonged to St Nicholas Russian Orthodox church. He is survived by his parents.
