Escapee Captured as Guards Suspended at Wisconsin Reformatory
James B. Newburn, 28, escaped from the Wisconsin State Reformatory and was captured by Wausau police after scaling a wall between 5 and 5 30 am. Two dormitory guards and a tower guard were suspended pending an investigation. Newburn had stolen a car in Green Bay, abandoned it at Schofield, then hitchhiked to Wausau and stole a car from his benefactor. Police pursued him on the west side of Wausau before he was stopped when his car hit a bridge.
