Official ceremonies Thursday afternoon marked the opening of the newly paved stretch of 75th St in Kenosha. The top photo shows William Exton cutting the ribbon at the intersection of 39th Ave and 75th St with local officials and Roosevelt Rd Shopping Center Group members present. A five shell salute used a miniature cannon as crowds watched the barricades removal along the new curbs and sidewalks.
The ceremony opening Kenosha’s modernized 75th St and Roosevelt Rd intersection drew city officials and area businessmen as a $211,577 state and federal aided project progressed. Cape and Sons Co. of Racine completed grading paving widening to 64 feet with curbs gutters new sidewalks and upgraded traffic signals. The city’s share was about 15 percent and the work included sewers watermains and telephone cable revamp.
The House Ways and Means Committee approved an administration request to raise the national debt limit to 28 billion dollars for another year. Madison reports the State Senate approved a bill to expand the Real Estate Brokers Board membership from three to five and sent it back to the Assembly.
