Mary Ann Meyer a two year old in Allentown Pa relies on transfusions every three weeks to fight a rare regenerative anemia. Doctors at Allentown Hospital say her body cannot make red blood cells and she has received 44 transfusions since birth. Her father Harry C Meyer refuses to lose hope for her future.
After a preliminary hearing Tuesday afternoon County Judge W W Davis bound over John Luciani 26 of 5113 Twenty second Avenue and Angelo Romano 33 of 4527 Twenty third Avenue for trial in municipal court. Luciani faces lewd and lascivious behavior pandering counts while Romano is charged with transporting a woman for immoral purposes. Luciani bond set at 3000 Romano at 500. Witnesses included a Whitewater woman who lived with Luciani and Emil Caudill apartment owner. The judge took under advisement several other pandering counts and Romano’s second transporting for immoral purposes charge. The hearing ended abruptly with the woman refusing to continue testimony.
Supporters forecast a three to one margin as the union restricting bill moves in the House toward passage. Senate action and a White House decision loom. Truman faces a veto risk or a possible signing amid divided advice and political pressure from both parties.

The Shore Line Transit Corp of Hammond Ind filed to abandon the Racine Kenosha interurban and switch to bus service by Milwaukee Lakeshore Lines. Bruner and associates owned the line earlier. wartime needs delayed prior abandonment. Bus service would meet Milwaukee trains at Racine station and follow existing schedules to Kenosha.
The 7000 ton freighter Emperor struck Canoe Rocks near Passage Island on Lake Superior and sank. Canada Steamship Lines reported 11 crewmen unaccounted for, one woman cook recovered, 21 survivors saved by U S Coast Guard to Fort William Ontario. The ship carried 35 crew, none passengers, with Capt Norman Reach listing Eldon Walkinsaw among the victims.
Wisconsin's Grand Army of the Republic reelected its 101 year old commander Lansing A. Wilcox of Cadet to another one year term and Ansel Goolsbey of Chetek as senior vice commander yesterday.
