New York CIO Steelworkers head Philip Murray says the union seeks a package wage increase of 30 cents per hour with a 12 1/2 cent fourth round raise plus 11.23 cents for pensions and 6.27 cents for social insurance. He spoke at the opening session of a Truman appointed fact finding board to avert a steel strike. The board will hear 16 days of evidence from 64 companies led by U S Steel and Bethlehem and from the union for eight days.
