Brothers killed as car hits rail overpass near Truesdell
Two brothers, Lenard Grimmer Jr. and James Grimmer, died when their car struck a northbound overpass abutment west of the city on Hy. 50 near Truesdell. James was visiting from Fishkill, N.Y. One body was found on a freight car five miles away after the crash. the other remained in the wreckage. Eyewitness Charles Batchelder, 50, Grayslake, Ill., described the moment before impact. Coroner Edward J. Wavre noted the car disintegrated. The crash colorfully left the freight line scene and spilled into the surrounding area.
