Pittsburgh CIO United Steelworkers executive board backs a presidential plan for a 60 day strike delay. The board did not specify whether firms rejecting the plan would be included in the truce.
In Chatsworth California pilot Roy G White was 2000 feet low and crashed the AC 46 Commando at Santa Susana Pass killing 34 of 48. Investigators doubt a passenger fight caused the crash while identifying 33 bodies and probing why the pilot was below prescribed altitude.
