Over the weekend thieves stole $700 in cash from the Roosevelt Road Hardware Co at 3018 Roosevelt Road and two cutting torches worth $110 from Commercial Welding Co at 5615 Twenty third Avenue. A four by four foot safe was battered during the hardware break in. Det. Lt. Riley said a billboard entry allowed access and the intruder left the same way. Co owners Rudolph Wiedersberg and Leon Nickels were listed. Police report another entry involved a lock being broken at the welding shop, with torches valued at $65 and $45 stolen.
