Fourth Accident Totals Are Low In City and County
During the Fourth of July weekend Kenosha and the county recorded few crashes with one minor injury in five Friday collisions. Police Inspector Emil Clausen noted the two day tally reached nine after five incidents Thursday. The lone injury involved Dr. William Lipman when his rear was struck by Clarence Zellen’s truck as Lipman paused for reversing traffic on Fifty-sixth Street.

Five people died in Wisconsin on the first day of a three day holiday. A plane crash near Watertown killed Indiana men Martin SchwalWalter 70 and August Lehman Jr 39. Lehman was en route to surprise his mother on her 67th birthday. Betty Erickson 22 of Martinette was struck by a car in Milwaukee and died after being thrown 34 feet. James Hopkins 19 of Milwaukee died when a car left a road in Waukesha County. Fritz Drissel 28 and Edward Kurtz Jr 18 of Jim Falls were in a car that plunged into water. Drissel drowned while Kurtz was rescued.
