Voters in Wilmot and Central districts approved queries funding new high school facilities with total costs exceeding 1 million dollars. The Central school will open in September with enrollment-driven plans, and a $69,000 tax levy will support bus financing and added amenities.
The Republican national committee voted 67 to 33 to appoint a subcommittee to consider whether to open coverage of the contested delegates fight on radio newsreel and television. The decision comes amid ongoing party tensions.
The beaten body of Miss Clara Bates, 77, was found last night in her quarters behind the rural tavern she operated seven miles east of here. Sheriff Bell said a blunt instrument likely caused the skull fracture, though the weapon was not located. Coroner Dr. Harold Pomainville put death at a skull fracture with repeated blows, most likely after 11 p.m. Sunday.
