Russian-born financier Serge Rubinstein, a known draft dodger and later figure in financial manipulation, was found murdered at his New York Fifth Avenue townhouse. Police reported bound, gagged, and strangled remains with no signs of forced entry, as distraught family and staff were present.
Ulysses Riddle, 85, perished in a rural fire at his son in law Francis Richards farm home on State Line road east of the Chicago and North Shore tracks. Samuel Morrison a 67 year old businessman and civic leader of Kenosha died this morning at Wisconsin General hospital Madison after a five week illness. Born in Poland in 1887 he migrated to the United States and lived in Chicago Waukegan Kenosha and Racine where he ran several stores and founded Morrison Store for Children. He served as director of the Kenosha Jewish Welfare Fund and held multiple Jewish and civic memberships. He is survived by his widow a son James Kenosha a daughter Mrs. Donald Nover Racine a sister Blanche Katz Aurora and one grandchild.
