Oklahoma tornado kills eight in Gans area
An out of season tornado devastated the farm community of Gans Oklahoma near the Arkansas border before dawn. Eight people died from the storm and six houses were leveled while a dozen others were injured. Two additional tornadoes struck Warner and Wewoka with property damage but no casualties. The National Guard and law enforcement aided rescue efforts as residents described the destruction and early morning wake up call.

A ten story grain elevator near 94th Street at the Calumet River burned last night in a driving rainstorm. Fire officials estimate multi million dollar losses with about three million bushels of grain destroyed and a nearby new elevator saved. Weather shifts to cold with sleet and late clearing

Delavan waitress stabbed to death in estranged husband quarrel
Henri Zenou 34, a native of Algeria, admitted buying a jackknife and stabbing his wife Dorothy Zenou 27 in their Delavan home as their two babies were present. He then waited with one child as police arrived. Dorothy died at Lakeland Memorial hospital. Zenou was jailed in Elkhorn facing murder charges.

Julius R Nielsen 60 of 6211 32nd Ave American Motors employe walking to strike duty at the plant was struck by a car at 60th St and 32nd Ave. He suffered a broken left leg and injuries to his right leg and head but hospital officials described his condition as not serious. Edward J Tredon 40 of 6022 40th Ave a time study engineer at the plant was driving east on 60th St and said Nielsen stepped into the path and the car entered the intersection. He was booked for failure to yield to a pedestrian. The impact threw Nielsen 29 feet.
