Snow End Tonight Then Colder Temperatures Across Wisconsin

A pattern of snow followed by colder air returns to Kenosha and southern Wisconsin. Snow this morning will end tonight with up to three inches. Overnight low could reach five to 15 below zero, with Saturday near zero highs. Northern Wisconsin reports record cold, while Kansas City and Wichita set heavy snow records. Frigid conditions persist across the Midwest and Northeast with sub zero readings in many areas.

Wisconsin Toll Reaches 31 With Calumet County Crash

The 1962 Wisconsin highway toll rose to 31 after a Calumet County crash near Stockbridge killed Paul H. Fox 58 of Hilbert and injured his daughter Alice 18. Milwaukee resident Harry Rutledge 72 died from injuries suffered Jan. 3 in a separate incident.

Snow and Deep Freeze Hit Kenosha Weekend

Snow began this morning and should total one to three inches by evening. Temperatures stay bitterly cold with lows 5 to 15 below and a Saturday high near zero. Noon readings climbed to the warmest in days, with AMC 16, Downtown 15, Southport 12, and a 2 below morning low yesterday.

Charge Dismissed in Huebner Fatal Crash Case

Circuit Judge M Eugene Baker dismissed negligent homicide charges against James Clark 22 of Rt 1 Box 375 after a motion by Dist Atty J B Molinaro. Clark was fined 100 and costs on a reduced reckless driving charge. The case stems from a December 4 1960 two car crash that killed Mrs Margaret Huebner 23. The only state witness testified today as his earlier Feb 15 testimony was challenged under cross examination. Continued on Page Ten.

A West Berlin motorist swerved to miss a rabbit Thursday night and struck two concrete fence posts, toppling 30 feet of the barbed wire barrier erected by the Communists around West Berlin.

Congo Mission Besieged by Congo Troops. UN Responds

United Nations said a Roman Catholic mission housing 15 priests and nuns near Sola, 95 miles north of Kongolo, was attacked by Congolese troops aided by anti white sect members. The UN spokesman reported the arrest of Col. Joseph Pakassa in Stanleyville, linked to previous killings, while Swedish UN planes were dispatched to investigate and aid the besieged group.

Rival taxi unions clash in Chicago Loop brawl

In Chicago six men were arrested after a fight between James Hoffa era Teamsters union members and the rebel Independent union led by Dominic Abata. The clash near the Hamilton Hotel halted Loop traffic for about 30 minutes and left Abata with facial injuries.

In Geneva the feuding Lao princes reached a compromise for a national unity government. In Saigon, Henri Vittot the French rubber-plantation director kidnapped by the Viet Cong on December 20 has been released and returned to his plantation 30 miles east of Saigon. Coral Gables Florida surgeons said Gen. Jose Garcia Trujillo nephew of the Dominican Republic dictator may survive a self inflicted gunshot wound. Detectives reported he shot himself at a friend's home Thursday and no note was found.

Milwaukee Man Axes Wife Then Fires House

An elderly Milwaukee couple argued after a TV failed, leading John Organ to strike his wife with an axe, tie her to a chair, and set four fires in the home. Clara Organ, 76, is critically injured. Organ, 70, may face charges after police conference. Firefighters found the blaze on the second floor and attic. damage estimated at 5000 dollars. Two schoolboys reported the fire.
