An 18 year old Kenosha youth confessed to sheriff's authorities that he drove the car that struck and killed Julius Vines 68 on Cooper Rd last Saturday night. Police traced the suspect through a tip and questioned more than 100 residents before the arrest. The youth will face the district attorney Monday morning.
Herbert F. Johnson of Racine receives the Brazilian National Order of the Southern Cross from Ambassador Ernani Do Amaral Peixoto at the embassy. The award honors Johnson’s long effort to expand Brazil US economic ties and his 1935 Johnson Wax expedition studying the carnauba palm and wax collection.
Wisconsin plans roadside improvements in 1957 including a new wayside along Highway 83 south of Highway 50 with six picnic tables. The $3,500 project fits a state wide program adding 69 waysides and 337 more picnic tables, plus historical markers and plantings across counties to aid motorists.

Rhinelander physician Dr. John P. Magner, 39, charged with unlawfully prescribing and selling narcotics to a Marathon County man, was bound over for trial March 20 on a $1,500 bond.
