Weather bureau reports a warming trend with tonight near zero in Southport Park after 10 below this morning. Wisconsin highs may reach 12 above Friday, but northern areas stay bitterly cold with lows 15 to 23 below. Snow is likely by Saturday as a central Plains storm moves east.
Gov. Gaylord Nelson indicated he will make appointments to public office. He cited an attorney general opinion that a legislature can be in session only while actually sitting and that with the Senate recessed the governor holds interim appointment powers.
