One jail room in Kenosha county housed 19 fully-assembled slot machines and parts of others, giving the appearance of a Las Vegas gambling hall this morning.
An obituary notes the death of Joseph Lindl an architect aged 82. The article also covers a separate early morning raid uncovering confiscated slot machines in a private home basement on Hy 50 and the arrest and questioning of a 54 year old Kenoshan who claimed the machines came from his father who ran a Silver Lake resort years ago.
Joseph Lindl 82 dean of Kenosha architects died Saturday night at Kenosha Hospital after a long illness. Born March 13, 1879 in Paris Arkansas, he moved to Milwaukee, studied architecture, won a 1906 national prize, opened in Kenosha 1907, shaped Kenosha County Courthouse design and Civic Center, and designed City Hall and multiple churches. He helped write Kenosha building codes and served on the building appeals board. He formed a partnership in 1922 with Albert Schutte. the firm designed major local structures and contributed to regional architecture for decades.
