Kenoshan Among 13 Glider Crash Victims
Pvt. Richard L. Wedeikis of Kenosha age 18 was among 13 student paratroopers killed in a glider crash at Lawson air base Georgia. Four others were seriously injured as two gliders detached from a C-82 tow plane attempted landing. A witness said the left wing struck the ground causing the crash. Another paratrooper Pvt Rodney R. Toeppel 18 from Wisconsin Rapids also died. Ft Benning reported as site of training with Smyrna Air Force base to lead investigation.
