Milwaukee Secret Service probes a counterfeit $10 bill ring after arresting a 32 year old man connected to 35 fake notes. Four other men and two women were detained or questioned as officials confirm Milwaukee as the printing site.
Houston area reports show Hubert W. Harris, 47, died from persistent internal bleeding after 14 blood transfusions in a week. In Florida a National Airlines plane crashed on takeoff near St. Petersburg, with a stewardess guiding passengers to safety. Washington Star cites Eddie Erdelatz offered Rams head coach post at double Annapolis pay.
Madison announces Wisconsin will be represented at an eight state civil defense medical conference in Chicago on January 26 27.
Rocco Rocky Gerone a 32 year old Chicago man was shot by Police Officer Abe Toigo on Roosevelt Rd after fleeing Ollies Market. He is in fair condition with a back wound. Authorities seek an accomplice who fled in Gerones 1955 Oldsmobile across two states.
Pedestrian George Thinnes, 65, died after being struck on 22nd Ave near Washington Bowl. Driver Philip Allie, 30, pleaded not guilty to drunken driving in municipal court and was released on 110 bond for a trial set Feb 3. Thinnes died en route to St. Catherine's hospital. he left a half brother and three sisters. The city’s annual traffic deaths have been rising.
