Regents Eye $6 Million Union Addition at UWM

The University of Wisconsin Board of Regents' Business and Finance Committee recommended a $6 million Student Union addition at UW Milwaukee. The first stage would cost up to $1.1 million with $1.6 million funded by a student fee and the rest by a fund-raising group. The current facility serves only about 175 to 185 diners at once. The new setup would feed about 1,500 students simultaneously.

A 35 year old amnesia patient remained unidentified at a Milwaukee hospital despite her photo appearing in local papers and on TV. She wandered from downtown Milwaukee after saying she could not recall her name and had been in Iowa recently.

Ralph Zitelman a 35 year old Milwaukee man pled guilty to leaving the scene of an accident. He received a six month Huber Law jail term. A reckless driving charge was dismissed. His car struck two New Berlin boys as they walked home from school two months ago. One boy was seriously injured.

A volcanic eruption at Mt Trident in Alaska sent ash as high as nearly 20 000 feet on Friday. The 6090 foot volcano produced an ash cloud prompting alerts for nearby residents and air traffic.

Cold snap grips area with snow flurries possible

The forecast calls for much colder weather tonight and Sunday with snow flurries and high winds. Lows will drop to 5 to 15 degrees while daytime highs reach the 30s tomorrow. FBI arrests two on bank fraud in Terre Haute

FBI agents arrested William C. Kipple former First National Bank of Terre Haute cashier and Thomas E. Lapworth owner of City Motors on charges linked to bank shortages possibly exceeding 500000 dollars.
