The county recorded its first traffic fatality of the year when Martin H. Anderson 28 of Zion Illinois died in a solo crash on Hy 32 south of the city He had recently moved from San Pablo California and was employed by Hart Dry Wall Service The crash occurred about 5 am with no skid marks and no witnesses Coroner William Rauen said Anderson had a broken neck and inquest would not be held He leaves parents a sister and a widow not divorced He had been drinking at Freddies tavern earlier in the night and was coming from Kenosha at the time of the crash Other injuries included a woman hurt in a separate crash on Wood Rd The sheriff noted New Year's Eve was relatively calm for the area
