Traveling billboards might improve rail cars says Demps A. Oden of Childersburg. He told the Alabama Public Service Commission that lighted posters on unsightly sides could offer scenery and revenue as railroads shuttle sponsors’ messages nationwide.
The Co-Vets club of Cooper Incorporated hosts a 6:30 p.m. Christmas dinner at the Eagles club with 10 new members including Mary Biscardi and Dean W. Bacon. Two employees with 30 years of service will be honored, while Ralph Y. Cooper will speak and Arthur Kneibler act as toastmaster. A Christmas bonus equals one week’s pay will be paid Friday to 850 workers in Kenosha and Burlington.
Pfc. Michael Furdek son of John and Anna Furdek will arrive in Kenosha Friday with a military escort from the Chicago Graves Distribution Center. He died in the Battle of the Bulge on December 27 1944 after more than six months of combat. Surviving are his widow Irene and their son Michael both of Milwaukee along with his parents two brothers and four sisters. He entered the army March 24 1941 and went overseas in October 1943. He served in France and Germany and was a member of St. Anthony's parish and Modern Woodmen of America.

Richard Dittman aged 53 of Green Bay died after being struck by a car at a street intersection in Green Bay Wisconsin. The accident occurred yesterday and involved injuries to Dittman as he crossed the intersection.
