Kenoshan Killed in Action Awarded Silver Star Medal
Sgt. Henry M. Narolewski of Kenosha was posthumously awarded the Silver Star for gallantry near France on August 9, 1944. He led a squad of combat engineers under the armored division, attacked a strong enemy position single handed, and forced a withdrawal. Trains Collide Near Salt Lake City injuring delegates
A 13 car Western Pacific Farm Bureau Special from San Francisco collided head on with a freight train west of Salt Lake City. At least eight of the 205 delegates aboard were injured and ambulances were sent to Salt Lake City hospitals. No deaths reported. The collision occurred about 6 30 a m MST as the train carried Texas and Louisiana delegates home from the convention.
