The State Committee on Water Pollution ordered Kenosha, two rural communities, and three businesses to halt pollution. Each must submit plans or complete abatement within two years, following a February Burlington hearing on a 46 page southeastern Wisconsin report.
Eau Claire reports Roger Spaeth eight drowned Monday after apparently falling from a raft during a day outing with two older brothers. The brothers were on shore about 30 feet away when the accident occurred. The body was recovered.
Milwaukee actor Dennis Morgan, once from Milwaukee, will attend the Milwaukee County Republican picnic on August 28 in Milwaukee Arthur Agostini, the GOP county chairman, announced today.

Airman Daniel C. Schmidt seeks divorce from Una Schmidt and custody of their 2 year old son Daniel Jr. His mother in law Mrs. Walter Ferguson plans to testify for him. Schmidt, 23, returns from 32 months as a Korean War prisoner while Una says she married another man in Mexico believing Schmidt was dead.
Northern counties saw cooler air while the south stayed hot with noon readings near 90 at American Motors and 88 downtown. Highs near 82 at the treatment plant, with a dawn low around 61, and a forecast of fair to partly cloudy skies tonight and Wednesday, cooler with highs 78 to 83.
At the 72 nation atoms for peace meeting Dr H A Wilhelm of the AEC outlined a scalable method to produce high purity uranium metal from uranium tetrafluoride and magnesium in a reducing furnace. He noted the technique could let any country reproduce the metal needed for atomic energy purposes.
Gov Walter Kohler and the State Building commission led a bus tour to evaluate potential sites for a new six million dollar boys school. Stops included the present Waukesha Boys School and the Kettle Moraine forest sites in Waukesha and Sheboygan counties.
A 19 year old soldier, Charles Demlick of West Duluth Minnesota, died after his car collided head on with a vehicle driven by Frank Bennett of Byron Illinois on U S 53, five miles north of Chippewa Falls Wisconsin. Bennett and a passenger were in fair condition at a local hospital.

Walter said several subpoenas may yield helpful witnesses. Seven actors appeared Monday. five invoked the Fifth Amendment. three cited First Amendment rights. Sarah Cunningham declined to identify her presidential ancestor to avoid smearing anyone.

Donald E. Schultz, 21, of Milwaukee, drowned in the north end of Pewaukee Lake Monday evening while swimming. His body was recovered by other swimmers in about four minutes but Pewaukee Lake rescues could not revive him.

A federal judge rejected Paul Robeson's bid for a court order forcing the State Department to issue him a passport. The ruling leaves Robeson without a passport while his travel rights remain unresolved.
U S and Communist China ambassadors held nearly a full day of discussions in Geneva and recessed until Thursday. No sign of progress toward freeing the 41 Americans detained by Peiping, and no details on possible concessions were provided.
