Seek to Shorten Tax Injunction
In Madison Wisconsin the attorney general asked Judge Edward J Gehl to move up the Aug 12 hearing date on a motion to make permanent a temporary injunction restraining liquor prosecutions for non payment of the 100 percent state tax increase. Stewart Honeck deputy attorney general said the state wants a ruling by next Wednesday and likely Monday delivery of the request. Pedestrian Is Seriously Hurt In Friday Kenosha Crashes
Mrs. Mary Jensen, 69, was seriously injured Friday after being struck at Fifty sixth street and Eleventh avenue by a car driven east by Frank Widmar, 18. She suffered a fractured wrist and leg, cuts and bruises and was in fair condition at Kenosha hospital. Police reported 31 feet of skid marks before impact and 18 after. Witnesses included Carl Barbee and Harold Fricksens. In a separate Friday incident Joseph Selovich damaged a parking meter while parking, and Nicholas Wliscka backed into a gasoline pump at the police station yard, damaging his car but not himself. Mrs Frank Ott and James Kafka also had minor car damage in a separate brushing incident on Sixty third street.
