President Truman signed a multi billion housing bill expanding federal housing programs through loans and guarantees while dropping the cooperatives plan. The measure increases FHA insured mortgages by 2.5 billion, expands FNMA authority to 2.5 billion, extends FHA modernization loans, and allows low interest direct loans for educational housing. It also extends veterans loan repayment from 25 to 40 years and transfers about 150 war built projects to local agencies.

High Simmons Official Dies in New Jersey
