Finley Items Note Barns, Ducks and Draining Efforts
Mr Mier builds a substantial barn on his Finley area farm. Father Hinsdale left for Spokane to spend the fall and winter. Roscoe Fisher starts as time keeper for Porter Bros on the P and I road. School opened with L B Simmons and Miss Hovey returning as teachers. Eakin of Kennewick sold land near Finley to W R Amon. Brown of Kennewick plans to move his family onto the place early next year. Mrs Setzer and two children joined her husband from Tacoma. Ducks on the pond but muddens remain unpopular with hunters. E W Barton and sons built a craft to navigate the lake and await ducks in tall grass at night. If successful, lake may fill with various boats. Drainage canal east of the Simonsen place shows large benefits from drainage efforts led by Mr Godfrey, draining multiple ponds and lowering water levels significantly. Some oppose taxation for communal benefit, but supporters prevail in reducing water and improving the land.
