A letter published to reflect disagreement over a proposed $60 000 bond for a new Kennewick schoolhouse. It argues opponents fear taxes while the board aims to keep costs low, noting Pasco's recent bond and Spokane tax burdens. The board says $60 000 may be needed but will not sell more bonds than necessary.
A remonstrance signed by a majority of Commercial Club members is forwarded to Olympia opposing Representative Richs county division bill. Rich replies with a heated letter to Club president S Z Henderson. Olympia reporting notes the McQuesten bill to transfer county lines progresses despite King County opposition, while Rich delays his own bill to await House action.
Strawberry growers in the Highlands plan to use Indian labor with up to a hundred pickers ready from Luke Thompson of Cayuse Oregon. G. E. Hanson reports the offer as a partial solution to the upcoming harvest six weeks away as margins for harvesting large quantities of straw berries increase.

The Cement Products Company of North Yakima will establish a branch in Kennewick east of the green houses on Front Street. The firm has laid many miles of pipe near North Yakima and Zillah and expects to produce several thousand feet of cement pipe this season. Ten thousand feet have already been contracted by farmers in the valley.
Calico Carnival hosted by the Young People of the Luthean Church at the Pavilion on Friday night March 3. Calico attire rules impose small fines for noncompliance and the evening features con fused courses and inexpensive calico goods for sale. The event runs 7 30 for seating and program begins promptly at nine.
