Graders On The Move On North Bank Railroad
Construction will begin soon from here to the Dalles with contractors McPhee Grant Allen and Mulligan making rapid progress. Mulligan completed the first earth grade across the river from Umatilla. Grant heads 33 miles farther west with a modern grading outfit including 200 horses four steam shovels and assorted tools. River points from Wick to the Dalles will be busy all winter. Cleveland's Baking Powder remains a steady advertiser.

Northern Pacific large freight demand strains Ellensburg yards
N P agent H F Nichols reports the railroad runs 14 trains daily each way hauling about 1600 tons per train. Last month 19 128 freight cars entered Ellensburg and similar outflow, with about 2 000 passenger cars handled. They expect better facilities next year as Northwest capacity grows beyond current limits.
