Apple Bitter Rot Exposure and Spray Control
Weather conditions greatly affect bitter rot in apples with Yellow Newtown and several varieties most prone. Bordeaux spraying, begun five to six weeks after bloom and repeated every two weeks, saved up to 98 percent of sound fruit in trials, while unsprayed trees suffered total loss. In cool, dry summers intervals may extend, while hot moist summers require more frequent applications. if already visible, two thorough sprays are advised followed by the standard schedule.
