Fourth of July Celebrations and Accidents Report
A large crowd celebrated the Fourth with balloon ascensions by Prof. Kime of Ligonier and races in the westernool. Accidents included a double fracture of the collar bone from a parachute descent tangled in wires. Fireworks, music by the city band, and plate glass breakages marked the day. Traction plans span Logansport to Kendallville via multiple towns
A Winona Lake to Indianapolis News special reports George F. McCulloch hosted a meeting with officers and promoters of a proposed Logansport Rochester and Northern Traction line. The route would run 101 miles from Logansport through Rochester Mentone Warsaw North Webster and Albion to Kendallville with a Warsaw to Winona Lake branch. The Winona assembly demands a written plan within three months and operation within twelve, or they may build the branch themselves. C. W. McGuire named secretary treasurer. J. T. McNary and others from Logansport Rochester Warsaw and Anderson join the group. A power plant is to be located in Warsaw and the line is seen as a feeder to Indianapolis and potential trunks toward Detroit or Toledo. Lieutenant Governor Gilbert will act as governor for two weeks while Governor Durbin is away.
