Local farm hand killed by Lake Shore fast train near DeKalb
Casper Huber a 54 year old farm hand from Ohio residing on George Emerick’s farm was struck by Lake Shore fast train No. 19 while roaming along the Ieast street tracks near the J. E. Riddle residence east of town. He appeared intoxicated and was warned off before the collision. The engineer stopped the train after the impact. Huber died from severe head and body injuries at the Lake Shore freight depot. Coroner Carver conducted a morning inquest. interment set for tomorrow. The incident prompted notices of state officials and a religious presbytery report and upcoming local events.
