Delegation of Colored Men Meets Roosevelt in Kansas City
A prominent group of Black leaders invited by Theodore Roosevelt visited the ex-President at Hon. R. Kirkwood’s home in Kansas City. Delegates spoke of Lincoln, praised Roosevelt’s inclusive creed, and urged inspiration for the race while Roosevelt discussed conditions, urged bravery and progress, and recalled plans for a Colored regiment in France. The delegation included Dr. William H. Thomas, Dr. J. Edward Perry, Prof. J. R. EB. See, Lieut J. Edgar Dibble, Major N. Clark Smith, and other officials, with Nelson Crews reporting.
