Mrs. M N Young hosted a Monday afternoon 2 to 6 event at 3412 East 12th Street with forty ladies playing whist. Music by Edna Hammett and a rose and green theme preceded prizes for Miss Fairchild and others as she returns to teaching in Houston after summering in New York and New England with Baltimore federation participation.

Second Baptist Church observes a Young People's Rally Day on September 17 with 10:30 devotionals led by H. B. Southern and others, followed by a 6 pm program featuring scripture, songs, prayers, solos, and talks by local leaders and YMCA officials. The event invites members and friends to attend the day’s activities.

Ground breaking services for the new temple featured Rev J Arthur Hamlett of Jackson Tenn delivering a sermon on Holy Ground.
Lemuel Harris, Mayor Rolph's messenger and church member, helped avert sheriff sale by securing mortgage relief for the African Methodist Zion Church in San Francisco. After pastors Jones and Clark failed to raise funds, the mayor invited him to his office and pledged to address the church debts.
In Moberly Missouri services drew solid crowds with strong offerings. A Gilliam Chapel rally featured sermons by Rev Swaney and Rev J K Ponder, raising $50.05. Lincoln School opened with many students and capable teachers as locals share health concerns and church activity.
Mt Moriah Lodge No 2T AF and AM of Dalton Mo held a grand sermon Sunday at 11 am by Rev W H Davis of Mobberly Mo pastor of Keytesville First Baptist. He preached again at 3 pm. The Citizenship Rights Congress will convene October 4 at John Wesley Church at 4th and Corcoran NW. The event, supported by Colored Press and National Equal Rights League, opens to individuals or delegates with leaders Thomas Walker and others welcoming attendees during the week of September 11.

Several locals spent last week in Kansas City and G W Lyman hosted dinner for six.
In Omaha on Friday September 1 a public reception celebrated Mrs. W. T. Osborne for four years of service to St. John’s A M E Church where Rev. W. T. Osborne serves as pastor. A talent-filled program impressed attendees and refreshments followed. Jessie Moss led as mistress of ceremonies with Martha Jackson chairing the organizing committee assisted by Eva Walker Anna Burton Mattie Jackson Georgie Mounts Lula Rountree and Kate Wilson.
Last Sunday marked a Red Letter Day for Second Baptist church with a basket dinner to benefit Rev. Alford. The anniversary program praised Rev. Alford’s year of work, features good papers, a strong choir led by Prof. C. W. Black, and notable visitors from St. Joseph Minneapolis Kansas City Maryville and more.
