In a highly enthusiastic gathering of Colored Republicans in the city the Jackson County Negro Republican Club was formed Wednesday night at the Sun offices with over 200 members inside and a crowd outside unable to enter. Officers elected include Gartha A. Page as president H. Calloway vice president Chas A. Astwood secretary Birch Davis assistant secretary W. W. Payne treasurer and Ben Taylor sergeant at arms.

Tragedy on Kansas Side Fire Truck Crash Kills Captain
Theodore Jones of Negro Fire Hose Company No 5 was killed when a fire truck overturned near Quindaro boulevard and Eleventh street at about 10 30 p.m. Wednesday. Firemen Fred Smith Joseph Edmonds and Granville Morgan were injured, with Edmonds and Morgan unconscious on arrival at St Margaret's hospital. The wrecked engine was demolished and the crash may have been caused by steering defect.

Preacher Fatally Injured in Free-For-All Bust at Whigham
On November 17 in Whigham Georgia Rev Samuel Si'ott a Black preacher was fatally struck by two unknown Black men during a frolic and dance. The altercation began after he accused partygoers of stealing three bottles of whiskey he had brought to liven the event.

Bishop Evans Tyree Dies After Long Illness in Nashville
Bishop Evans Tyree a distinguished chief pastor of the African Methodist Episcopal Church died after a long illness at his Nashville home. He studied theology and medicine at Salisbury North Carolina joined the AME Church in 1866 was licensed to preach in 1869 and was elected bishop in May 1900 at the General Conference in Columbus. Also elected bishops M M Moore Iles S Smith C Shaffer and J Coppin have died save Coppin and Smith. Bishop Parks Dr Image and Dr Peck left to attend the funeral which drew churchmen and notable citizens from across the country.

Two Black Girls Fatally Hurt Near City Park
