Afro-American legislators elected in Ohio county in 1893
The Cleveland Gazette notes that two Afro-American members of the Ohio Legislature were elected in 1893 in this county while editor The Gazette and Hon Wm Hf Clifford were among the lucky ones. On Tuesday three were elected one to the State Senate Wm R Green Harry B Davia and KS Woods. This shows an encouraging advance in local politics for which our people are to be credited. It was their vote at the Argunt 10, 1920 primary that made it possible.

Saloon Shooting Kills Local Gambler at Sixth and McGee
W H Alteh Stinson, a Black gambler, was shot and killed outside a Sixth and McGee saloon last Monday afternoon. Police arrested Lee A Arasier, another Black man linked to the quarrel. In state news, J C Asbury and Andrew Stevens, Black men, won Pennsylvania House seats from this city’s sixth and seventh districts by 5 500 votes. Dr Henry Piper became the first Black man elected to Delaware’s Legislature.

Shooting at Vine Streets Ends in Critical Injury
Walter Carter, a 4 year old colored boy of 2202 Highland avenue, was shot in the left breast Sunday morning at Twenty Second and Vine while trying to intercede in a dispute between two Negro women. Arthur Ward of 1627 Cottage avenue fired the shot when he saw Carter attempting to pacify them. Ward and Lizzie Hughes of 1827 Cottage avenue were taken to No 6 police station for investigation. Ophelia Vivions of 1611 East Twenty-second street was released. Ward and Hughes are detained. Carter is in dangerous condition at the old City Bimgwital.

A large crowd gathered at Allen Chapel last Tuesday evening November 10 for a reception honoring Bishop HW Clinton Parks. Standout ministers from the fifth Episcopal district attended. Wm T Vernon and J F Sage spoke, and Rev Brooks Rev T I Pope addressed the audience. A $1500 district gift and a $100 conference gift were presented, plus a gift from Mrs Agron WH Malone of Poro College. The Western University Orchestra provided music. About two hundred were turned away for tickets.
