Hundell cared for the animal on long hikes sharing sugar and tobacco scarce days, sleeping beside him on the picket line. After an accident and a later transfer the horse grew unmanageable. he mourns the lost rider and refuses food, with a veterinarian now attempting to coax nourishment and hope for recovery.

Baptism Tragedy Halts Services on Brazos River
Richmond Texas May 5 Rev John Robinson of Houston and Deacon Oscar Herald of Booth drowned during baptism in the Brazos River. Three awaiting baptism were saved by a Mexican bystander. The crowd halted services and searched for bodies, which were not recovered. Both men left large families.
