Negro Millionaires Coming Dr Horse Begins Great Camp Meeting

The Grand Lodge of the Pythians will convene in St Louis July 22 for the thirty-fifth annual session. Grand Chancellor Lloyd leads a strong year with 1000 new members, five lodges and five courts created, and $50,000 collected. Delegates and visitors from Kansas City and beyond will attend events at Pythian Temple and Coll. Formal opening Tuesday with Mayor Kiel and Lincoln Institute President Clement Richardson. Parade Thursday afternoon with a large uniform banked crowd.

Grand Chapter Meets In Carrolton Missouri History

Interment followed at Highland Cemetery.

Negro Veterans Organize Post in American Legion

Washington July 17 The Associated Negro Press reports James Reese Europe Post No 1 the first Colored post of World War I veterans to receive a charter in the American Legion organized at Irving's Hall and electing officers with nearly one hundred veterans enrolled.

The Blue Triangle League of Gate City Y W C A held its regular monthly meeting Tuesday evening at the Paseo Y M C A. Officers were elected: Williams president Tolbert vice president Smith secretary Arnold assistant secretary Desmond chaplain Vaughan treasurer. Vesper services Sunday drew large attendance. The Girls Work Committee met first time last Friday. N A Club swam at Allen Chapel Monday and Thursday, with an outing at City Park in Kansas City Kansas. Sixth Grade of Attucks School hiked Blue River last Saturday. Various clubs held regular meetings.

In Omuhs Nebraska on July 17, Douglas E B McCarry former banker testifies in district court denying any Negro blood in himself or his parents. The trial centers on Francis J Dwyer seeking annulment from Clara McCarry Dwyer on grounds of Negro blood, alleged after the birth of a child. Dwyer says they married in a Catholic church in 181% and later learned of the blood claim. he left wife, she moved to parents. he later joined the army and filed for annulment.
