Nat Hoffman a white soldier with the supply company 11th Field Artillery was hanged at 6 45 this morning at Camp McArthur after a conviction for attacking a school girl last April near the camp. He was captured after a report by the lone girl and a boy who witnessed the assault. Mr T S Wade and daughter of Enid Okla were in Waco enroute home from Mexico Mo.
Leon H. Herriford, a first class musician in the twenty-fifth Infantry band stationed in Hawaii, reports to his father that he has been promoted to Band Sargent and foresees further honors. The young soldier has impressed many in the States with his notable musical ability.
The Interdenominational Baby Camp Association announces a camp opening on Sunday July 21 for sick babies in the community through July and August. Located at Spring Valley Park near 26th Street and Woodland Avenue the camp will be staffed by a Registered nurse and several of Kansas City's top physicians.
The Wheatley Provident Hospital at 1826 Forreat Avenue grows toward completion and will be a premier facility for the Negro community in the Southwest. Subscriptions drive on with many pledges paid though some remain unpaid, accruing 6 percent interest. Notable donors include Dr. T. Wabhank, Cooper & Campbell, Dr. S. H. Thompson, and a generous $1000 from a Chinese merchant at 1604 East 18th Street. Additional supporters list multiple donors contributing from $1 to $100, and a call to pay up emphasizes communal obligation.
J B Perry expresses deep gratitude to physicians nurses colleagues hospital staff and friends for care during illness. He thanks attending doctors Wheatley Provident Hospital Old City Hospital superintendents and staffs, floral offerings, Kansas City Sun, and readers as he resumes duties with appreciation.
Secret Service investigates threats sent to Judge Porterfield after an anonymous letter warned white residents to remove Black neighbors on Park and Olive streets by August. The note, tied to alleged German propaganda, prompted Black homeowners to ready defense of their property and communities amid heightened fear and vigilance.

Dr. J. M. Thyis, a leading physician, was shot and killed by Dr. B. E. T. Butler in Muskogee after a prior heated clash at an office. The men had a longstanding dispute and the confrontation escalated to violence with a shotgun attack on Dr. Davis, reported by Tulea Star.
A Citizens committee at the Sun offices arranged a large sendoff for 316 colored men drafted next Thursday. The Second Regiment Band will lead a parade from Paseo Y.M.C.A. to Union Station. A 9:00 a.m. patriotic program by Prof. Jackson’s Chautauqua chorus precedes brief addresses by several local figures, then the group will march to the station for the 11:00 a.m. train. Everyone is urged to wear a flag.
