Ricketts Masonic Leader Laid to Rest in St Joseph
The funeral of Dr. Matthew Othello Ricketts Past Grand Master of Masons of Missouri drew thousands to St. Joseph Missouri at Oakwood Cemetery and the Masonic Temple. The service featured Scottish Rite rites by St. Joseph and Kansas City Consistories, with Grand Master W. W. Fields and many dignitaries in attendance. The funeral proceeded from the Masonic Temple to the church at Third and Antoine, with a Knight Templar Band and numerous lodges in procession and floral tributes from across the country. In Columbia Missouri on Sunday January 21 St Paul Ledge No 12 A F and A M laid the corner stone of a new $35,000 school building. About 2000 citizens witnessed the Masonic ceremony with addresses by Rev. E and visiting brethren from Moberly and other towns. The old structure crowded before the ceremony and the edifice rises 16 feet above the ground, offering a view to the large crowd assembled.
