The Kansas City area saw a remarkable Go To Church Sunday as colored congregations packed churches and drew hundreds to join. Bethel A M E and Morning Star reported large turnouts with significant offerings, totaling over 15 thousand dollars across two cities. Rev Daniels and leaders highlighted rising church activity and future growth prospects.
Never in Allen Chapel history had a crowd filled the space like last Sunday. Over five hundred were turned away from the morning service as the assembled choir of forty plus an effective sermon by Dr. Thomas from Saint John sixteen forty four themed Am I My Brother's Keeper. Morning attendance listed at 2,200 and evening at 1,400 with total collection $188.40.
The church reports a great day with crowds drawn by the pastor and officers. Fifty new members joined and 1650 sought to live a Christian life, with morning attendance 2000 and evening 1600, collection 136 dollars. Next Sunday 61 candidates will be baptized and the Lord's Supper observed. Sun issue to publish a full list of baptisms.
Rev. T A Wilson preached two sermons at St John A M E Church with 1180 attendees in the morning and 200 in the evening. Two added to the church and a collection of 12 dollars. A series of sermons will begin Sunday February 8 and the public is invited.
Rev J W Hurse pastor reports a glorious Sunday at St Stephens Baptist Church with 800 attendance in the morning and 950 in the evening. Choir delivered excellent music and hundreds were turned away. There were 120 additions to the church and offerings totaled 185.60 dollars. The pastor calls it one of the greatest Sundays in church history.
Ward Chapel A M E Church reports a day of services with Rev H H Jones preaching in morning Rev J Frank McDonald D D in sermon and a platform meeting in the evening. Morning 225, evening 400, no additions, collection 45.30. many turned away.
Rev. F D Wells, pastor, reports glorious services at Bethel A M E Church with morning attendance 125 and evening 200. There were two additions and the collections unknown.
The C M E Church at 18th and Paseo with Rev J R McClain as pastor had a glorious day. Morning attendance was 80 and evening 125 with one addition to the church and a collection of 19 dollars.
Centennial M E Church at 15th and Woodland avenue under Rev R Pavis hosted its busiest day with 470 morning and 550 evening worshipers. The day saw 49 additions, two sermons by Dr Davis shaping memories, and total offerings of 76 dollars with many turned away.
Rev. J. M. Booker of Pleasant Green Baptist Church reports a record crowd with 500 in morning and 750 at night. One baptism and eight candidates for baptism were recorded as offerings totaled $63. Rev Booker plans to install a fine pipe organ in the city.
Vine Street Baptist Church reports weekly to the Kansas City Ban under the Vine Street Church News heading. Rev. Dr. T. W. Ewing pastors the church.
Rev W C Williams reports thousands sought to enter Ebenezer A M E Church as hundreds were turned away at both services. Morning attendance 400, evening 700. 26 new members joined and collections reached 140 dollars in a Kansas City revival stirring the city.
Pastor Rev. J. R. Ransom notes more than 1,000 attendees at morning and evening services. Dr. Ransom delivered a brilliant sermon rich in the holy ghost. The day saw 39 additions to the church and a collection totaling $108.09.
The pastor W A Boren reports morning attendance 800 and evening 450. Additions to the church noted. The day’s collections amount to 64 dollars and 70 cents.
Rev. G. J. Price reports Moraling services attendance 226 and evening services 850 with additions noted. The report highlights growing participation in worship and outreach during the period.
The church at int and Ruby Avenue was pastored by Rev Howard JD artis. Attendance reached 250 at each service. There were no additions and collections totaled $5100.
Rev. Geo McNeal pastor and Grand Master reports over 200 attendees at each service at the UV church in Kanaas. Rev. N B Jenking IA pastor at 24th and Ruby notes 200 morning and 300 evening attendees with one addition and a $20 collection.
Dr. D. B. Jackson of KING SOLOMON BAPTIST CHURCH cites 100 in morning and 800 in evening at his church with three additions and 40.80 in collections. Rev J W Clay reports 600 attendance at each service with three additions and a day’s collection of 84.55 dollars.
Rev M L Warfield notes attendance of 00 at each service with nine additions to the Church and collections totaling 28.70. The report reflects much religious enthusiasm among the congregation.
The Rev. John Harvey preached a morning sermon to about 100 attendees at Rosedale Kansas St. Paul A. M. E. Zion Church. No converts were recorded and collections totaled $15.00.
Rev. Chas. Ferguson reports about 150 in attendance at each service with no additions and a total offering of 23.25 dollars.
Rev Miller, pastor of Bethel A M E Church reports a small congregation with attendance of 0 and a collection of 4 00.
Under Rev C A Ralston the church reports strong work with an attendance of 17 at each service and no new additions. Collections totaled 18.65.
The Rev. L C Allen, pastor, reported 150 attendees at each service and glorious services throughout the day with collections amounting to $12.00.
8 St Paul Baptist Church at 10th and Highland Ave led by Rev B Hillman held morning and evening services with 250 in attendance each. Reports indicate over 24,000 of the 2,000 Negroes in the two Kansas Clubs attended services last Sunday and more than 600 additions to the church with collections over $3,000.
Vine Street Baptist Church reported a full house with five new members and 500 in morning services. Evening crowds overflowed beyond capacity as the pastor preached “God's Love For We” and the choir sang “Praise Ye the Lord, Oh Houses of Israel” amid a joyous collection.
The Negro Business League held a Tuesday night session with Arthur A. Anderson of London and Dr. C G C Murray Kane as speakers. The Anderson family provided delightful music and a recitation by young Anderson Jr. The group arranged to perform again February 10 with J A Whiteon the jeweler delivering an address and a Kealing summary on Negro Business Needs. The event was at 1804 Faust Eighteenth Street.
Women's groups meet weekly at Armory Hall and Kyrie Hall with dances, teas, and club activities. The St Pancras Guild hosts a Martha Washington tea. English Study Club discusses Browning and Tennyson. XX History and Art Club reports a lecture by Rev Willett and readings from Dunbar. Social Pathfinders formed by Allen Chapel youth. Night Club formed by residents on Park Avenue.
To the Editor the writer urges self appointed committees to investigate alleged crimes by Black youths and a wounded man accused in a police killing. The Tango Day celebration drew a large Society attendance praising the Tango San dae creation by Dr Smith. Guests listed include Vinited Smiley and many others. The event promotes the new treat as likely to surpass Clip per Sundae popularity during the soda season. Visitors’ names will be published until opening of the Soda Season with an invitation to join after shows and church, at Eighteenth and Tracy.

Arch Gleaves son of Mrs Laura Perry of Quindaro Kansas and brother of Miso Likale Gleaves and Mrs Meliasa B Pronch of this city was killed by a Union Pacific train at Laramie Wyoming and buried there, the family unaware of his death until after interment. Another brother Silas Gleaves, formerly of this city, now lives in Chicago.
