Church and City Club Women Organize 300 Year Negro Exhibit
Ladies from churches and City Clubs met at the Y to plan a major exhibit for the 300 years of Negro achievement in America. Mrs. W T Osborne chaired the meeting outlining booths and a citywide committee with professors to display in a section called The City School. Floats recount Dark Days to Emancipation and the Progressive Age, with each church asked to sponsor a float. A map of the Baptist Church history will be shown by Mrs Ida Becks and Methodist display by Prof T B Steward. Sergeant William R. Campbell of F Company, 370th Infantry, was wounded September 24 in France. A government telegram and a letter to his mother, Beatrice Jackson of 3523 Charlotte Street, report he is recovering and hopes to be home soon.
