John Smith sixty was blinded by an ambush shot and his son Ray had sixteen pellets in his face. Mrs Smith was shot in the head. The youths, who were quail hunting on the Smith farm, fired on being ordered off.

A nonoperational still at 3114 East Eleventh street caused a fire early today, inflicting about 725 dollars in damage to the building it occupied. Adjacent homes at 3112 and 3116 East Eleventh street were slightly damaged. Police found a 65 gallon still and eighteen empty barrels. owner not located. No arrests. Occupant of 3114 was B. T. Voltz.
Five people died when the Chicago and Northwestern limited Columbine struck a sedan at a crossing east of Woodbine Iowa late last night. The deceased were Mr and Mrs Rollo Burress, Mr and Mrs Claude Burress their son and daughter in law Kenneth Burress 16 son of Rollo Burress and the Burress family lived near Woodbine.
Lindbergh, who piloted a Miami to Paramaribo air route, departed Paramaribo for Port of Spain Trinidad at 5 45 pm. The craft crossed the Saramacea River mouth fifty minutes after takeoff at an altitude of 750 feet.
