June Carey has been charged with degree murder in connection with a blast at a drug store. Authorities allege the incident caused multiple injuries and significant property damage as they investigate motive and accomplices.
June Carey, son of the arsonist D M Carey senior, is arraigned on first degree murder charges in the drug store blast that killed three city firemen on sixty ninth street. Prosecutor James R Page says the state has evidence and the trial for Glover, Piggott, and Carey is set before Judge Ben Terre with over 100 state witnesses subpoenaed.
A flock of fourteen quail disrupted the Kansas state house yard in Topeka. The birds dug worms, ate weed seeds, and rested in the sun while crowds watched. Bird experts said they likely escaped from a farm and fled after a hawk sighting last night.

Helen Williams 18 of Thomas Oklahoma dies during first parachute jump at Braley flying school field Wichita Falls in a fatal accident during a demonstration by the Irving Air Chute Company. Officials report Williams’s feet tangled in shroud lines causing the chute to fail to open. Miss Jean Herrick Wichita was to jump after but did not. Williams had recently moved to Thomas to live with relatives and graduated from Thomas high school. Her body to be sent there. pilots Miss Smith and Miss Herrick were prostrated.
