Temperance Crusade Led by Billy Ross in Early Liberty
A 1850s temperance revival in Liberty led by Billy Ross transformed a drinking culture. The narrative recalls pre reform habits, the rise of Ross and his dramatic speaker style, and how communities rolled out barrels of liquor in public sacrifices, inspiring women and youth to pledge abstinence and create lasting sobriety in the region.

The 1850s Liberty Missouri Square Drinkers and Sheriff
In Liberty Missouri the overland trade era shows saloons called groceries around the square. Men drank 100 percent whisky with foreign coins and mixed drinks scarce. A judge walked the square for his morning drink, later breaking from the court steps into a mortar bed. Sheriff Sam H. was the convivial county figure who kept whisky barrels for meetings.

Chain track traction for off road engines trials praised
English engineer David Roberts introduces an endless chain track with inside wheels to form a rigid arc. The system reduces ground pressure on soft ground and increases grip enabling movement over swamps and ice. Trials near Aldershot show climbs of twenty feet on soft clay and ice slopes without aids.
