Authorities say the slaying likely occurred between 6 and 7 30 PM yesterday with evidence of near point blank fire.
County investigators probe two Jackson County families after the bodies of Patricia Jones and James A. Kinne raised questions about marital ties. Walter Jones admitted seeing Kinne's widow Sharon Kinne as deputies review statements and evidence from the scene near Independence.

Hymie Goldstein, 76, of 734 East Seventy-first Street Terrace, was struck by a southbound motor car in the 7200 block of Troost Avenue and died minutes later at General Hospital. The driver, Cletis James Irick, 40, of 2826 Harrison Street, said he had lived in the area two months. A witness, Robert Brown of 3218 Coronado Road Kansas City Kansas, said Goldstein flew into the air after the collision.
