In August 1891 a nine member committee of the Young Men's Republican League of Kansas meeting in Topeka prepared an address denying slander from the People’s party. The document claims debts reflect enterprise not misfortune and urges Republicans to mark ballots on the right side under the new ballot law.
In Garnett, judge ponders the missing books of the defunct Garnett State Bank as a judicial investigation looms. Judge Riggs plans to appoint a new receiver, inspect records, and possibly jail parties if books are not produced.
